CAR COX & MRS. BROOKS (2022)
The sculpture above is one of the first ceramic works I ever made, excluding that one thing I made from kindergarten. It was created during my sophomore year of high school when I took a ceramics class. If I'm being honest, I initially signed up for the class because I felt like it would be an easy-A elective. However, the class exceeded my expectations, and it ended up igniting a passion for the art within me, and that was something I never anticipated. I have to express thanks to the teacher of this class, Mrs. Carrie Brooks, for helping me discover that passion. Her love & enthusiasm for ceramics & art were truly contagious. She possessed a true talent for unlocking the creative potential in each of her students who were willing to learn. With her unwavering support & insightful guidance, I was able to hone my skills and build the confidence that continues to serve me today. Mrs. Brooks' compassion and outstanding abilities as an educator have had a profound impact on me, and words cannot express my gratitude or appreciation I have for her. I will always hold her in high regard as one of the most influential mentors I have ever had the privilege of learning from.

Below is the personalized box I made my senior year of high school. You can tell much has changed since the one I made sophomore year that's at the top of the page. I thought it would be fun if I had the horseshoe piercing attachment actually move & rotate like a real piercing, and then I also made a corner with the ability to detach like a puzzle piece.
Don't worry about being successful, but work toward being significant, and the success will naturally follow.
